 Qualified refs?
« Thread Started on Sept 18, 2009, 3:00pm »

Out of the people to might be playing welsh league this year, who is a qualified ref? As in, done the course and been assessed while refing a match?

Definitely no-one in the ladies team... (shameful I know..!)

Best to get in touch with the reffing lady (totally forgotten her name...). I explained that we had no qualified ref's last year and she said she would do her best to get some people through the course/assessed asap so that we don't breach the rules this year (as they are going to be strict)

The 6 of us who did it last year had a year to get assessed so hopefully we can before it runs out, then we dont have to pay the fines for not having refs!!

yeah, anyone who's done the course needs to be assessed otherwise we get a £50 fine per team per welsh league day.

I went to the butchers the other day and bet him 50 pounds he couldn't reach the meat on the top shelf.

He said, "No, the steaks are too high!"

I'm qualfied at grade three, currently have the grade 2 theory aswell and happy to do reffing :)

p.s. the £50 is for 2 refs course places, which covers the cost of renting out a room for several hours, getting a whistle and rule book (times two, which is about £7.50) so it's not actually that much. Aside from this one the closest refs course that runs is in banbury, which is an awful lot more if you include petrol.

I could understand £50 per team for that, it was the per day bit that seems unreasonable.

in the info pete lineham sent me it was an extra £50 to get on the refs course, and then if no one passed in your team, a £50 fine per day, per team.
